Disaster Relief Information
Due to the recent impact of severe storms and tornadoes in the south, many citizens of Northwest Georgia and the surrounding areas have been impacted economically. As a result, Governor Deal has declared a state of emergency. Below is some information for the Northwest Georgia residents who live or work in Dade, Walker, and Catoosa counties and have been negatively effected by the recent disaster.

FEMA Assistance
As part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the organization that acts as coordinator of disaster recovery efforts. FEMA partners with local, state, and other federal agencies to help those who are affected by federally declared disasters and who qualify for temporary financial and/or direct assistance. FEMA's Individual & Households Program is one of many elements that may be available for recovery support.

U.S. Small Business Administration - Disaster Loans
Whether you rent or own your home, own your own business, or own a small agricultural cooperative located in a declared disaster area, and are the victim of a disaster, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Georgia Department of Labor - Disaster Unemployment Assistance
Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) provides financial assistance to individuals whose employment or self-employment has been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster and who are
not eligible for regular unemployment insurance benefits. DUA benefits are payable to individuals only for weeks of unemployment in the Disaster Assistance Period, which begins with the first day of the week following the date the major disaster began and for up to 26 weeks after the date the disaster was declared by the President, as long as the individual’s unemployment continue to be a result of the major disaster.
